Saturday, October 19th, 2019 - The annual Block Kids/Touch-a-Truck event takes place with approximately 25 children participating;  Kindergarten through sixth grade students from around the Chicagoland area. They created unique, construction related projects, learned about tools from Hilti and climbed on construction equipment courtesy of the Touch-a-Truck sponsored by the Federation of Women Contractors (FWC). All participants enjoy snacks and take home a great goodie bag and a pumpkin for Halloween! Prizes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place projects as decided by the Block Kids judges.  The winning entry will go on to compete at the Midwest Regional level, to take place in February.

What is Block Kids?

Developed by the NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF), and administered by NAWIC chapters around the country, Block Kids is designed to introduce children to the construction industry and promote interest in future careers in Construction.  The winner of the local competition advances on to the Midwest Regional competition, with a potential to be entered into the National competition.
