Chapter Committees

Participating in chapter committees give members an opportunity to actively shape the chapter's mission, contribute expertise, or develop skills in new areas. Not only can you gain valuable leadership skills and networking opportunities, but you can collaborate with other women in the industry to drive positive change.

Finance - Standing Committee

Treasurer responsibilities as outlined in Treasurer’s handbook. Review of monthly accounting, comparisons of actual versus budgeted amounts.



Membership - Standing Committee

The Membership Committee is one of the most vital committees in our Association. Our Bylaws state, “The Membership Committee shall be responsible for devising ways to increase and maintain membership in the Association”. The Chapter level is most important as it has the most direct personal contact with the members. To devise ways to increase and maintain membership in the Associations. Provide resources and best practices to engage members. 

 

PD&E - Standing Committee

The Professional Development & Education (PD&E) Committee shall function as an education and development resource to members by providing educational webinars & podcasts, access to a rich portfolio of professional speakers and to valuable engagement through educational initiatives.



Safety

The Safety & Health Awareness Committee will obtain and distribute (in conjunction with the OSHA Alliance committee), best practice information as well as new and changing regulations for safety within the construction fields to NAWIC members at all levels – Nationally, Regionally, and Locally. The goal of this committee is to ensure that NAWIC members and their companies have access to the information and tools needed to not only create a safe work environment for themselves but also the communities that surround them in their work and personal lives.



PR/Marketing

The Marketing Committee shall be responsible for conducting (in conjunction with Membership committee), monthly interactive opportunities to share best practices for publicizing NAWIC at all levels – Nationally, Regionally, and Locally. The goal of this committee is to unite NAWIC in a common vision so it can operate in a focused, strategic manner.


Planning

The goal of this committee is to plan quarterly socials and any other meeting locations that might arise.

CAMP NAWIC

Plan and oversee the weeklong construction camp for high school girls typically held during spring break.


Block Kids

Coordinate and oversee the annual NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) national building competition for kindergarten through 6th-grade students.



WIC Week

Plan and execute events held during the first week of March for the annual Women in Construction (WIC) Week, which promotes construction awareness for women.

By Laws

To prepare and present all amendments to Association Bylaws, Standard Bylaws for Affiliated Chapters, Bylaws for Affiliated International Chapters, and reviews Chartering Chapter’s Standing Rules for Compliance. Reviews Regions Policies and Chapter Standing Rules submissions as noted. Keeps our chapter in check to ensure we are following National bylaws. Update chapter on changes or potential changes. Reach out to National on the chapter’s behalf if we have questions or wish to contest or change something.
